Local anaesthetic is first injected into the skin in front of the temporal hairline and a small needle entry point created to facilitate the entry of a special cannula (blunt tip ). The filler is then injected by using the special cannula into the space below the superficial temporal fascia ( just above the deep temporal fascia which covers the temporal muscle ).
This volume of filler injected is of higher viscosity and has greater holding power and is able to act as a fixation point to hold the skin and underlying tissues up. The tissues are pulled to the side and diagonally up and away from the center of the face.
In older patients the temporal filler lift can be complemented with either the thread lift or other forms of non surgical facelifts like Thermage or the Syneron E2 Sublime to create a better lifting effect.
This technique can smooth out the small wrinkles on the forehead, and around the eyes area and gives a firmer look to the face by lifting and tightening the skin around the cheeks.
An additional benefit of the procedure is the lifting of the sagging skin the jowl area thus creating a more youthful V -shape face.
There is no social downtime associated with this procedure although a small swelling in the area injected is expected but disappears after 1-2 days.
A tension like headache is usually experienced after the procedure but can easily be relieved by the use of paracetamol tablets.
The results are expected to last about one year and can be complimented with other lifting treatments like Thermage, HIFU and PDO Regenerative Threads.
