The second generation of picosecond lasers and the most innovative medical laser available in the market today, the Enlighten Pico is used for pigmentation, acne scars, birthmarks, unwanted tattoos, and various skin problems.
Like the ever-popular Q-Switched Laser, the ENLIGHTEN PICO, is a non-ablative laser that is mainly used for pigmentation removal, acne scars, skin rejuvenation and brightening, and tattoo removal.
ENLIGHTEN PICO works in ultrashort picosecond laser pulses instead of nanosecond pulses in a Q-Switched Laser.
This means that the pulse duration (how much time 1 laser shot stays on the skin) of ENLIGHTEN PICO is 100x shorter than a Q-Switched Laser, and more laser shots can be fired by ENLIGHTEN PICO in the same amount of time compared to a Q-Switched Laser. The shorter pulse duration also means that the skin heats up less and this reduces the risk of hyper-pigmentation which can sometimes form due to laser procedures.
Epidermal + Dermal pigment
Aging skin; Reduction in fine lines
Acne marks clearance
Brighter and tighter skin due to collagen stimulation
Faster and more effective removal of multi coloured tattoos
It is recommended for a clinical consultation where the Doctor will assess your skin for suitability for the treatment and make his professional recommendations.
High Peak Power, Variable Pulse Durations
enlighten features longer (2 nanoseconds) and shorter (750/660 picoseconds) pulse durations in one system. This functionality gives you efficient, effective removal of ink and pigment density. Also, enlighten offers a strong, non-thermal, photomechanical effect with high-peak power and the ultra-short pulse durations that shatter the targeted pigment without causing thermal damage to the tissue that surrounds it. This makes it an ideal solution for treatment of challenging skin and optimizes our signature skin revitalization treatment.
Tattoos and pigment are comprised of multi-colors which require multiple wavelengths to remove effectively. The enlighten features three fully-integrated laser wavelengths – 532 nm, 1064 nm and 670 nm – the first true red wavelength in the picosecond domain. The unique 670 nm wavelength shatters congenital or resistant pigmentary conditions and addresses challenging blue and green tattoos.
You can return to work or daily activities immediately after the laser. However, it is advised to stay avoid prolonged or intentional strong sun exposure for a week after the laser to avoid hyper-pigmentation. For certain patients, some greying/browning/darkening of the existing pigmentation may be expected before it fades off. This is normal and one shouldn’t be worried as it will fade off in time.
Based on individual’s pain tolerance and location of the pigmented lesion, most patients are able to tolerate the lasers sessions without much discomfort. The laser feels like tiny warm pricks on the skin.
Depending on condition and the type of pigmentation, number of treatments can vary. A few factors influence the outcome of the treatment; nature of pigmentation, skin type, skin health, hormones, sun exposure, acne, etc. On average, about 4 – 6 treatments will be required for best results.
Most pigmentation, like tattoos, will not return after removal. However, due to sun exposure, aging and hormonal changes (mostly in women), new pigmentation can develop.
It is important to apply sunscreen to prevent new pigmentation from forming. Regular maintenance treatments with ENLIGHTEN PICO can also benefit some patients.
